I looked a little further at their options. Their current selection is a little thin relative to what I like to read, but If the can add more and keep the price, or create 'channels' such as Tech, sport, glamour etc, that might make more sense.

what does this do better than what Flipboard already does?

Flipboard just makes websites look pretty, sort of like a magazine. This gives you the actual full magazine, of which most of their true magazine content isn't published free to the web.

I'm an RSS addict and figure that I am getting 75% to 85% of the news already online. I am not opposed to paying - I'm just not paying some ridiculous sum for NY Times or WSJ. I think most of these periodicals will be back to earth within a few years.

I don't get the WSJ pricing. Its outrageously expensive in digital for for just one daily newspaper. Like $120/year or so. Yet I can get the printed WSJ delivered to my doorstep for like $37/year. How can printing and driving to my house cost 1/4 as much as posting the same data to a webserver???

Their price on their website for a print subscription is $119.

@MarkChinsky - this is the same principle at work behind digital music, digital movies, digital books, etc. They are pricing for convenience and accessibility. They are also taking into consideration the principles behind Geoffrey Moore's ""Crossing the Chasm"" model. Early adopters are more tolerant and willing to pay more to be part of that initial surge.
