From the Sage KB ( link ) :

MMW, the new default support suggestion is going to be "upgrade to 64-bit". And for those customer sites that are GLAPAR with Ma and Pa still running the accounting system -  with no modifications - the switch is pain-free.

For customer sites with 5 people in the warehouse doing heads-down shipping where the deadline to get shipments on a truck is 3 or 4pm - and where WMS , Shipping Software, EDI, Document Management etc integrations exist - YMMV as to whether you want to roll the dice hoping that after you run the "convert-o-matic" 32-to-64 utility  for core Sage 100 to 64-bit you don't have problems with any of the mission critical enhancements.  Yes, "it should work fine".

Admittedly I'm not 100% certain what this "from script" is referring to. I presume it's something different that just running wksetup. My observation still stands. I continue to believe we begin seeing more of the "just go 64-bit" which in reality might make the upgrade somewhat of an emergency for certain types of users with complex enhancements.

I file this "just go 64-bit" right in the lazy support bin along with "just use a domain admin account" or "give users local admin rights" ,  "use the SA account". I know there are good reasons to use elevated permissions however it's increasing difficult ( and probably incurs some liability on our part ) to suggest to anyone but Ma and Pa end user that they expose their network to potential security risks.
