The wonderful Work Order module question: When you enter a Completion transaction and enter the WO #, the Quantity field is blank. Is there a way to have it default to the quantity yet to be completed? Scripting?

Probably not, but I believe part of the mods made by ACS's WOEPS mod includes the option to autocomplete in some fashion. The mods they have in that package are really pretty useful. I attached the sales slick for WOEPS.

    Hmm, thanks @BethBowers !

Anyone running any transactional volume in WO should really look into ACS's enhancements. They do come at a price but if you are in that niche, well worth it.

And it's not framework, so scripting won't work.

    That's what I thought but I had to ask @RobertWood .

As indicated by one and all, this isn't possible. In support of Beth's post, I never let Resellers sell WO without the WOEP from ACS. It's not perfect, but it certainly helps streamline WO DE and Transactions.

Sigh, would someone AGAIN tell why the bastard children modules were left off the business framework? They didn't have to improve the code, all that was needed was to get it into the BF so that we could start writing scripts.........

But you can still do button scripts in Work Order. So if they don't mind pressing a button to get the Qty filled in...

Thanks for the slick on WOEPS. It wasn't on my radar, and we have multiple manufacturing customers. Anyone have a compare / contrast between WOEPS and JOB OPS? Any suggestions for automating the labor entries?

I think the comparison is between WO and Job Ops - apples and oranges. It is my understanding that the WO enhancements just make the data entry process more streamlined. Regarding labor entry, check out VraksBlum for some module enhancements.

@ClarkWalliser as @JeffSchwenk said, the difference between the two products is night and day. WOEP makes WO less insane and combined with VB Scan, streamlines WO nicely. VB Scan also has a version which works with JobOps. Some time ago Kevin Cooper (when he was with Synergistic) created a comparison document - JO to WO. I'll look around and see if I can find it. But of course his perspective was how much better JO is than WO. I think they have their places in manufacturing (as does Production Entry in BOM), but JobOps from a functionality perspective is much more complete - not perfect, but more complete.
