The SPM for Sage 100 2016 Premium dated 1/24/17 has the following Is that a typo and SQL Server 2016 is supported? Or just an extra stray line copied from the supported server OS section?

They reference the 2016 platform numerous times in the recent 100 ADV SPM. Hard to construe that as a typo.

Well one way or another it is a typo, as Windows Server and SQL Server are not the same thing. Looks likes someone was told to paste ""Windows Server 2016"" into every box in the document...

Adding platforms to the SPM is a big deal, but how does Sage announce this? With a wimper, and a typo. Sad.
