The rumors of Office for Ipad made no sense to me once I heard about Windows 8 and especially after surface. The only remote shot at success of Surface will be Office availability. If it was just as easily available on an iPad, than it would join the Blackberry Playbook in purgatory

I agree - this seems like a sure thing to be a MSFT exclusive. Same deal with MS Office for MAC -- they'll hold back and cripple the MAC version.

More reasons to use alternatives to Office

Good luck with that. The problem is the people who email you attached files (which usually don't open cleanly in supposedly compatible systems).

I'm with @WayneSchulz on that. Plus there aren't many reasonable alternatives that are also on the ipad and PC and work in offline mode. Google docs is amateur night compared to office.
