Sage 100

Sage's line on Sage Financials Business Cloud is basically:
We bought Intacct.  The two products serve the same market. (hah!)  We had to pick one.
Sage will not develop it any more, just fixes. They may support it for about 3 years and then it will probably go away totally.  Sage says they will do some things to make the client right.  Like a discount on another Sage product, is what I what I think I was hearing. (A free  discounted cabin on the HMS Titanic II!)

I requested this call and prepared Sage that I was going to ask them to come clean because I don't know anything official and can't speak to any of that.  A few highlights from this painful call with Sage and the client who has never gone live because they wanted a bank rec that worked first...
My contact summarized by saying "SFBC will be maintained for the foreseeable future" and we now know that Sage can't see more than 3 years into the future.
And he said he JUST learned of this last week.  OK, technically, we both said that.
I don't know who I feel worse for.  My contact at Sage or the client.  The bills we're going to eat are a drop in the bucket.
My observation is that there are no partners in the US supporting it.  A few in the UK or Australia.

This is the official statement I received from Sage. I called a UK partner to compare notes on what they had been told. From what we could tell the statements that Sage gave the UK partners matched up with what the US-based PR was releasing.

We will continue to support the product for existing customers, ensuring it remains compliant.'

· When the time is right for customers, we will work with them to with them to transition them within Sage Business Cloud

· Customers have very different use cases so there is no 'one solution' for a migration path.

As inept as many Sage moves seem, I am certain there are very smart people in the back office keeping score.

I believe that score was a major reason for the prior CEO departure.

Sage knows the exact progress in adding and losing customers on all their strategic products as well as the R&D costs.

We all have not for profit customers, but we don't concentrate on that industry, because there are limitations as to continuing sales and consulting. What Sage did not do up front was to identify third party applications that addressed distribution and manufacturing and had tight integrations. That may have been attractive, but there are also other cloud solutions that already offer that.

My understanding is that upgrades to Intacct for the distribution market segment are in beta now.  I spoke with the person doing the programming at MOTM.
