It's for ground survey of earthquake faults - they place sensors in our yards, then drive the machine down the street. The platforms on the side of the machine get 'planted' and then deliver an earthquake and the measurements on the sensors help map our earthquake faults. It shock the house for about 20 mins during the KB meeting. We'd received a notice they had new equipment but never a date for the survey. It caught me off guard.
