    The curse of the big company. I guess Sage is not alone in making dumb moves. This one may be for the record books..

    Big company hubris, led by a fast talking, new CEO. No news there. For future analysis, it does remind one to look hard at acquisitions with substantial amount of Goodwill in the deal. That is what HP wrote off, although this announcement made it sound like revenues had been greatly inflated, which would have been Autonomy's fault. Also proves that Apotheker was a lousy dealmaker.

    I wouldn't be surprised to see legal action there, either. The article mentioned something like $40m in fees on the deal.

    And reminding us all that this is never black and white, apparently the product itself is pretty darned good. They don't say it here, but I get the sense that it might be a pearl before swine in that HP might not have the chops to productize the technology. http://bit.ly/XCwIZT
