  • 1.  Task Scheduler Hanging

    Posted 07-13-2022 10:35
Client has a task to print the AR Invoice History Report (a custom version) to Paperless in Task Scheduler (and then Email).  The report prints to Paperless and we can manually email it from there.  But the task of actually printing the report never finishes in Master Console and it never emails automatically via the Task Scheduler.  We have a real printer setup as the default printer for the Sage service user, which is the user we have setup to run the task.

We've also reinitialized the SY_ActivityLog file per one of Sage's KB entries.

    Any other thoughts?

Have you logged into the machine as the sage service user and confirm it has the correct default printer assigned along?  Depending on the version, it could be that it is trying to print the task scheduler log and failing.

I watched the IT guy login as the Sage service user and he setup the default printer as HIS printer.  I feel like it's still in that area of being an issue, but starting to worry it's a bug.

    A few ideas:
    • Scheduled task set up on the Sage server.
    • Printer local to the Sage server (not redirected), not of PDF type (which prompts for path).
    • Log in to Sage, from the Sage server, using the Windows and Sage accounts you're using for the Task, and print the report using the default printer.
    • Paperless path is UNC, not mapped drive.
    • Last resort: edit the task in Windows and set to run with Highest Privileges.

Thanks, @Kevin Moyes.  So far, we haven't even gotten to worrying about the Windows scheduler yet - we can't get it to finish even if we do a Run Now.

I will try printing using the default printer and see what happens, and I'll check the paperless path.
