As Sage history shows, once they come out with a new version, they'll stop support on the oldest version they support.  When v2021 is released, has anyone heard for sure that they'll discontinue support of v2018?  I ask, because we have several Work Order clients that want to stay on 2018 and not move to Production Management yet (they don't want to lose their WO history), but they also don't want to fall outside of the realm of Sage Support.  Plus there's that little issue of clients who have Program Mods in 2018 that cannot be moved to more current versions.  Do you think there is any chance that Sage will continue to support 2018 after v2021 comes out?

The KB shows that the version will be retired, and it also shows that phone supported doesn't end for 2017 until the end of this month.  I don't have a good sense if they'll stick to that scheduled with all of the recent changes to PM.

Depends on your definition of support.

Sage 100 2020 PU1 is due 9/17. That will also bring a payroll update and a 2019 PU.

The 2018  PU which will also be released only has an Aatrix update - no additional fixes.

I tell users that when the PU is no longer updated for their version that it's a clue to make plans to upgrade. Phone support is marginally useful at best because it doesn't guarantee hot-fixes or any fixes as all for some of those older releases. And I doubt this will change for the better as Sage continues to age many of their products.

Our standard answer when asked is: if a version is retired don't expect anything from Sage.  They can (and likely will) refuse to help with older versions.

Thanks, Wayne – it is only the Work Order clients that I'm concerned about keeping on 2018.  And I should have clarified that it is only the Work Order clients who have mods that we can't move forward to a more current version –because we don't have Source Code for Production Management...

Legacy WO still runs on v2020.

Work Order does work on v2020...but it doesn't run without the WO Enhancements from Joe Bisaha that they have, and Joe isn't going to upgrade the enhancements past v2019...

And – the client doesn't want to go to the expense of only upgrading to 2019 with little or no enhancements in WO.  What a conundrum!

I hope that it gets better but right now it's tough to see light at the end of the MFG tunnel
