  • 1.  Summits - Less Social More Substance

We had a good suggestion from the Membership Committee today about membership drives.  We decided it was more useful to have a membership drive at an event like Summit.

Instead of having a once a year membership drive, at this upcoming Sage Summit we should

    1. Get a booth (hopefully compd)
    2. Have members purchase (via a discounted link on Land's End) 90 Minds Logo shirt of their choice
    3. Possible have the Affiliate co-sponsor the shirts with us and add their logos to it (we are working out the details)
    4. Have a session on Benefits of 90 Minds Membership

The booth would cost less than a social and does provide a continuous point of contact during the trade show hours.
The logo 90 Mind shirt - advertise "wear your shirt on X day and get a X benefit - show up to the booth to collect the benefit
Adding the co-sponsorship of the Affiliates IS BRILLIANT since they become our advertisers and cut costs for us too
Having a session during Summit on 90 Minds Membership (like Acu-Connect) may not be as easy as we think - however if we ask Kevin Kawado, Diane Coffman, etc. We may be able to get them to Summit, and we tag on at the end of one of their presentations.

This was very warmly received especially in light of the limited amount of time outside of Sage's preschedule events to schedule a social, venues, and costs.  This also fits with our 3-year goals, in promoting 90 Minds as the 'good seal of housekeeping' and making end-users aware of the benefits of our group to their reseller/consultant relationship.

    I am a bit annoyed that I didn't think of this ...
Yes, of course! While the social benefits of our group are greatly appreciated within the group, I feel that I sometimes forget that the tech aspect is mostly what gIets them through the door at first. it is the same for an Acumatica channel and others.
This sounds like a terrific outline. Kudos to the committee for coming up with it!!

I am bringing this to the top again.  Please read the first thread in this post.

We need to have a booth this year at Sage Summit.  With Sage Summit rescheduled to the Fall, it coincides with our membership term and would be a great time to run a membership special.  We could expand the offer to include, similar to Acumatica Summit, a MOTM ticket.

Social Event - We had no new members from our social event at Sage Summit Atlanta 2017.  We did, however, have a larger bill for the food and drink since we had a lot of 'guests' attend that were not preregistered for the event.  It seems social parties are marketing to existing members, affiliates, and rarely anyone new.

If you recall, last year, before we decided to skip a formal event, we were had a scheduling battle.  Many evenings Sage had an event, or larger vendors was having a 'blow-out' party.  We could hardly find anytime that would work, and the minimums for food and drinks started at $10,000, and only went up.  I have little interest to co-sponsor since it would likely be a crowded party filled with their potential customers, not our potential members.

A booth is exposed to everyone at Summit.  Old, current, and potential members, both consultant and affiliate. A potential Affiliate is well worth the booth cost.  A new Affiliate is worth a minimum of $4,150, before any additional sponsorships or ads.

A booth allows time to get to know a new member, exchange information, share ideas, and recruit!  That's hard to do at a loud party, if at all.  Membership notices - our members seeing our investment in the 90 Minds brand is huge!  If they have customers at the event, an even bigger bang for the buck since we double the value as we increase brand awareness around 90 Minds Consultant and Affiliate Members.

Having a face to face conversations with potential members, hearing from our existing members, Affiliates seeing our commitment to our brand and theirs too.  A booth is an investment for the long term.

Rereading the original post from last September (and not remembering this at all), I think what the membership committee came up with is great and I agree with their proposed strategy. Thank you for resurfacing it, Moira. And now we have more time to pull together the logistics!

After our Board Meeting last week, I started the application process for a Bronze level booth at Sage Summit.  I didn't think payment would be required upfront, but it is.  My attempt to pay $1.00 was meet with resistance.

I can't believe that they didn't go for that! $1.00 should have been proof of intent.

Sarah from Sage replied to inquiry:

    Hi Moira,

I hope you are doing well and safe!

You are confirmed to sponsor. I will send out the confirmation today. You do not need to pay until the actual event. You just have to be paid before you arrive. We should have the dates by early next week. Thanks!
