  • 1.  Summit Hosting - Upgrade \ Test environment

    Anyone successfully work with Summit Hosting on a cloned test environment?  We are working (or trying to) on a fairly large upgrade for Sage 100 \ Sage CRM \ Scanco.  I'm getting a little run-around from support on cloning the environment for testing.  Curious what I may be missing, or what others have done.  When it was IBN, this was  cakewalk.

    I have a customer on Summit with a "cloned" environment.  They have Sage 100 and also a custom front end for retail locations.  We are using the cloned server to test our API integration between the two systems. 

    The reason I put quotes around the word cloned in my first sentence is because the cloned test server I asked for never happened.  They set up a new server but it wasn't cloned...I had to migrate the Sage 100 data myself to the new server.  Either they didn't understand the concept of cloning the server, or the VM environment they use doesn't allow for it.... but apparently they couldn't do it.  To save time and reduce my stress level, I "cloned" it manually.

    Hey Doug, yep...  this appears to be the case.  They 'won't' \ can't mirror or clone servers.  Security is the reason.  If it were 'just' Sage like you'd i'd just throw time at it.  But it's more involved.  I'll probably have to manage it.  But for long term, multiple integrations, etc...  I can't imagine this is acceptable for the long haul.  It'll increase upgrade costs significantly.  I'll start researching other hosting companies too.  Thanks for the reply
