Good morning. I am working on my first full Multi-Bin implementation and am needing help with two requests: First, the client has bin structures like A0101, A0201, B0101, B0201, etc. and they want to zig zag like A0101 > B0101 > A0201 > B0201, etc. so I need to understand how to use the Sort Code. Second, they would like to first be directed to an Overflow bin if there is not enough quantity in any of the Pick bins to cover all of what is ordered on the sales order...they do not want to split distributions if they can help it. For example, if the quantity ordered is 200 and then have 150 in the Pick and 300 in the Overflow, they want to be directed to Overflow first rather than depleting various smaller Picks and then going to Overflow. Directed Picking options include settings like "Least Quantity in Bin Location" but not most, nor can I see any options related to ordered quantity. Any advice on what to test would be appreciated. Thanks!

@Amber Prayfrock did you get it worked out? I'm going to be dealing with something similar in the near future.

No, unfortunately, there were no recommendations outside of the Scanco user guides.

This is what I got back from Scanco. I haven't looked it over yet:

"We have a pretty good KB article that covers the sort code setup that I think will help https://scancohelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360063176933-Multi-Bin-Print-Sort-Code-Setup-for-Scanco-Warehouse-Picking

Regarding the question on picking from overflow bins they have primary pick bins they could use the jump to overflow for large orders option in Multi-Bin company wide setup under the directed picking tab (see details below). It's not exactly what they want but I think this gets them the closest. We did have a setting in Multi-Bin awhile back that allowed for picking from a single location if you could pick the item complete however, that setting is not available in current releases and I'd have to get with development to understand why and when exactly that option was removed."

Thank you for the research and the sharing, Robert! I appreciate it. I have not yet started this mapping of a Sort Code to a Bin. I understand the concept but not the full roll-out of it yet. That's also disappointing to hear that they "used to" have an option to jump to an Overflow bin based on each SO's Quantity Ordered and not necessarily a static quantity threshold.
