    Strange Error 12 PL_CommonUtiltity I have a client on version 4.3 (unsupported I know) they lost power yesterday; every since then, all users are getting a message ""unable to start document"" followed by Error12 PL_CommonUtility. usually this would indicate that the port in the PDF printeris not set properly, I checked and it was a port called Sage. I even created a new one in case and still get the error. I've tried running Wksetup (repair) and I could see it reinstalled the Sage PDF Converter but same results. I also verified the permissions on the printer and the permissions in Regedit. has anyone seen anything else that can cause this error?

    Check the registry for jobs and locks folders: HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG key Software Key Sage PDF Converter key Delete the Jobs and Locks keys

    I think it will be something on the server - get everyone out and in ..\mas90\mas_system rename sy_console.4mt and sy_workstation.m4t and see if that helps. Also make sure to run ..mas90\wksetup\WksUpdate.exe after workstation setup repair.

    thanks Doug and Mary, there were no Jobs or Locks in regedit. they are in California so we are planning to stop the application server and kill all pvxwin32 then rename those files. running WKSUPDATE might be it. I failed to run that after I ran workstation setup earlier. I'm going to call them back and give that a try.

    Re- read your post. Since it is ALL users affected it probably isn't workstation related.

    yes that seemed unlikely - running WKSUpdate did not help. so we will get everyone out later this evening and kill SY_Workstation SY_Console, AND Sessions.pvk hopefully that will help.

    if it is Advanced there are other files that may be corrupt - after you shut down the application server then also rename ..\mas90\home\lib\_appserv\ sessions.pvk and locate.pvk

    Be sure and ""run as administrator"" on the workstation installs.

    update: It turned out to be locked files on the server after they lost power. in the evening when all users were out I stopped the application server and killed all the pvxwin32.exe (there were quite a few). I looked in computer management and found that it still looked like 3 users had files open on the server I killed all those. the next morning I checked with the EU right away and everything was printing normally. now if I could just get them to upgrade!
