People love to hate on Samsung and HTC 'bloatware', until they go and try a function they got used to and realized it isn't in base Android. And I've heard from many that the bluetooth stack is screwed in base google. On a podcast, a google developer said the issue is that there are better stacks that work, but due to open source legality crap, they can't use it, but yet samsung and HTC can and thus good luck pairing this phone with your car or car audio. That all being said, until the major carriers (verizon with its monster LTE network) allow you to pay less because you are paying $600 instead of $200 for a new phone, no sane working slob is going to buy this. Paying $400 for the privelage to essentially get a pre-rooted phone is dumb. If you are that into phones and android pureness, you probably know how, within 5 minutes, to put Cyanagen on your subsidized device and be done with it.

What I don't understand is why the carriers won't let you buy one of these 2 pure android phones the way the nexus is sold. And thus, its subsidized and you merely have the choice of running the bloatware loaded, somewhat version locked OS phone, or a pure android phone. Afterall, when you buy an iphone, its pure IOS...so what's the difference?

I've never had good luck with rooting phones. I think one reason people might look at something like this is to dump all the carrier forced bloat. Other than that you're on the money.

I think one problem is with Verizon LTE (and possibly others) not being able to be included in a pure Google phone.

Interesting. Maybe that explains the insanity of the latest LG Nexus not supporting LTE
