  • 1.  Starship slow--any ideas to speed process?

    Posted 07-18-2023 09:50

I was doing some searching here yesterday, found an attachment someone had posted about this and then immediately lost my page.  So, feel free to point me there, but I cannot find it today.

I have a customer, 7 shippers, heavy shipping schedule that is constantly complaining that StarShip is slow.  It could take up to 12 seconds to load StarShip info from Sage and another 12 after they click the process button for it to get the label information (typically from Fed Ex) to start printing labels.  We've tried everything network, A/V, compacting database (it's currently at 3 gigs from 10), working with StarShip.  One item we did find that made a speed improvement is to upgrade their workstations.  I'm not sure, though, what in the PC upgrade helped--RAM?  Speed?

Does anyone have any other suggestions other than the standard items?  Customer is on V22 StarShip and V2022 Sage Advanced.  They are using the BOI interface, reading data from SO Sales Order into StarShip.

    Thanks,

    Roberta

V-Tech has not suggested to install and configure MIFS yet? https://vtechnologies.my.site.com/support/s/article/How-to-Install-the-MAS-Interface-Server-MIFS

Thanks, Amber.  Yes, already done.  We've been working on this a year and although they are slower than they want, but they also have more shippers and more shipments than most of our other customers.

For anyone else searching, the best thing we found to speed their Starship is to upgrade their workstations.
