StarShip Link 2.0 resolution Client had the attached Package Tracking Inquiry functionality (i.e., additional fields: To StarShip, Carrier, Weight, Freight, and Freight Added) in their MAS 90 4.40 system (with SS BOI 12.1.0), but it wasn't there upon upgrading to MAS 200 SQL 4.5 (with SS BOI 12.1.2). V-Tech initially said that with 4.5, the StarShip Link is no longer supported so they do not sync that information anymore. But then upon querying V-tech again on this because things just weren't adding up, they basically said that the fields in the database and the screens are modified by V-tech (even though the Tech earlier said they don't modify MAS). So then upon the client speaking with their Salesperson (and mentioning that we may need to switch from StarShip to something else), he talked to others. They then asked us if we had Starship Link v2.0 installed (which apparently is an app they created when Sage stopped supporting the Link and I know the Link has been discussed previously in SC). It is not advertised or shipped with Starship, however, if you install this, it puts the fields back on the MAS screens and makes it so that StarShip can write to those fields in the database again. You don't have to use it, but you have to have it installed in order for package detail information to be put into MAS from StarShip. So everything works like it should, now that the link is installed.

I've done several where the starship 2 link was provided by Vtech

Yes you get it directly from V-Tech.

We have a client who may switch to it (now using BOI). The V-Tech salesperson said the client can get it at no charge since they are current on maintenance.

I believe V-tech somehow activates this remotely as well -- I have setup notes -- Version(s): 4.5 Problem / Description: How can I setup Starship Link 2.0 for Sage 100 v4.5+ The relationship between Sage and V-Technologies (publisher of Starship) has changed and V-Technologies now sells the link between Starship and Sage 100 (aka Starship Link) directly. There are two versions to the link: a. Business Objects Interfact (BOI) -- must have BOI keys from Sage (should be free but not always included in older keys - be sure to update) b. Starship Link 2.0 (As of July 2012 seems less problematic) In order to use Starship Link 2.0 you must call V-Technologies and have them add it to your account and then install the Starship Link 2.0 Once V-Technologies have applied the license change (should be no charge if on support with them) you can update your license within Starship. To apply these changes: 1. Exit out of all StarShip clients 2. Run StarShip Server Manager 3. Click Tools > ""Check for Registration/Data Updates"" Then go to the Starship Program and change the financial system to Sage 100 v4.50 Then install the link via http://www.vtechnologies.com/ssfiles/starshiplink/starshiplink2.0.zip Instructions: http://www.vtechnologies.com/help/migrate/maslink2/index.html NOTE: If you don't see the Starship link button in Shipping Data Entry rebuild the panel in custom office.

I've been advising customers that they should buy support cases from V-Tech (Setting the expectation in advance of the upgrade) since V-Tech's KB is not that great and just about everything that needs fixing is some type of undocumented issue that V-Tech only seems to know (and they have a rather abrupt way of diagnosing this - typically with a statement of ""oh you installed it wrong"" )... Set customer expectation that V-Tech manages the support end of Starship when needed and at slight cost for V-Tech cases. Works well for me.

I agree with you and that is exactly what I recommend to my customers . I don't want to have to support Starship that is not my specialty and that is what I explain to my customers Works well for all.
