sometimes you want to slap someone silly.......

Client using Starship with Sage 100 v2019 / Scanco MB. Post below from frustrated user.

Packages are taking multiple times longer to run through Starship (the communication part with Sage) and then intermittently we are getting errors about products not having enough stock when we have plenty of stock.  The pick tickets say the item is allocated, so there was enough stock for Sage.

Starship tech support said this was a Sage issue and declined to get involved.  Ran the Scanco sort recalculations yesterday (finally) and that cleared some issues but not this one.

Has anyone else encountered similar issues?

Are you using the BOI or Starship link interface?

Not sure if this is your scenario but...I have seen cases where the Sage 100 Inventory Tables are out of sync / do not show same $$$ and / or Qty.  When MultiBin is in play it also has its own table to track MultiBin Qty on Hand.  One way to see if this could be an issue is just run the IM Stock Status, Valuation, and Trial Balance and compare the total  Qty and $$$ between these reports.  If this is needing fixed you will need to follow the myriad of steps to first get the Sage 100 tables back in sync.  Lastly there  is a Multi-Bin Inventory Reconciliation task that should let you sync the MultiBin Qty.  Some adjustments could be needed to adjust to actual after its all back in agreement.  If you go here make sure to do a full test fix to validate the results. Some of the Sage KBs on this are 20968, 20967, 20946.

    Jeff,

I don't know if this is a Scanco issue or not, but - if you can send email me the client name I will look into any open tickets. You can send it to my email. Also, we are always happy to jump on joint support calls with Sage, other ISV's, or anyone to work through these issues in real time if you feel we may be involved.

@Doug Higgs - IDK.  V-Tech handles all the support issues and keeps most of the gold.
@Bruce Kern - I think the issue you describe is corrected by the Multi-Bin Recalculate Quantity Allocated program - We ran that two nights ago and that resolved other issues but not the Starship error that started this thread. A side note, it appears that with MB installed, the Sage rebuild sort key utility is disabled.  If so, the message received is a total red herring.  If so, @Cody Smith - it would be much appreciated a message like "please rebuild IM sort files via the Scanco Recalc utility would be much appreciated!!!
@alan niergarth - Ah for the days of DOS and recreational drugs......  Now, it is WIN 10 and high blood pressure meds, blood thinners and cholesterol drugs.  Just not as much fun....
@Cody Smith - I will email you the client information.  Could it be coincidence that issues arose about the time of the MB PU install?  Maybe, maybe not.

For what it is worth, a Caroline Rua, VP, Sales & Marketing for for V-Technologies reached out to me yesterday.  Apparently, they are members of 90M (though not listed on the Membership or Directory links).  I forwarded her information to my client who promptly reached out to her.  He left another vmail today and sent an email.  Crickets!  But the good news is they are shipping product.  Who knows when the dreaded error message will raise its ugly head?

Will keep everyone posted.  Just think March is a couple days away.

@Jeff Schwenk  The StarShip link interface is executed when the user clicked a button in Sage 100 Shipping Data Entry.  The StarShip link interface "pushes" (or writes) Sage 100 data to StarShip.  Also, the StarShip link will be listed in LM, Reports, Installed Modules Listing.

The StarShip BOI interface "pulls" (reads) data from Sage 100 and is executed by the user by entering a sales order number or invoice number from the StarShip client.  There wont be any StarShip software installed in Sage 100 unless they previously used the link interface and changed to the BOI.

V-Technologies can enable and disable each of these and changing the interface type needs to be coordinated with V-Tech tech support.

I thought it would be easy enough and may be worth a try to see if changing the interface type would change the behavior of the system.  Of course there would also be a business process change that the customer would need to agree on.

@Doug Higgs Thanks for the quick overview of the link.  Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of Starship installs there are none that I am intimately involved.  If the reseller margin increased, I might be tempted to learn how it works, but there is no incentive.  The customer just wants it fixed.  Depending on this client's issue, the call could be Sage's. Scanco's MB, V-tech's, Avalara, American Payments, Certipro's, Sage Alerts or True Commerce (I probably forgot one).  So I become the traffic cop.  Really not complaining, just the way it is.
