I apologize if this has already been discussed here but I couldn't find anything. Customer is on Sage100 Standard v2018 and wants to move to same version in Advanced. Also, it's the same server. Is there a write-up somewhere? Do I simply do a Parallel Migration after installing Advanced? Do I need to call tech support for new keys? Sorry, never done one of these before.

You do need new keys.  Sage Customer support requires the request from the customer, not you.  I usually send an email with the request, CC the customer and ask the customer to forward the email to Sage.  New keys are usually issued.

I think you can do the same server install but NOT100%.  I would do a parallel migration.  Too bad you can't convince client to do an upgrade.  About the same amount of work.  Attached a couple files that may be of benefit.

Thanks for the info Jeff. They can't upgrade at this time due to various add-ons and custom programming.

Sage will not allow you to install the same version to the same server (even if it is a different flavor) after v4.5.

You'd have to take backups, uninstall Standard, then install Advanced and migrate from the backup files (untested... but is the only feasible approach I can think of).

Well, that's that then.  Copy STD to another folder, uninstall from the server (and delete files, maybe even reboot server).  Install ADV to the SAME location that STD was, parallel migration.  Users can then come in the next morning and their STD icons will launch ADV in STD mode.  This will give you time to get the service set up for both ADV and CS ODBC.  You can then install the ADV client at your leisure.  Network rights should still be in effect since your path has not changed.

One last question, Sage is telling me that as soon as they issue the Advanced keys, the Standard keys will become invalid. Is that true? How does one do a test install, conversion, etc with the new keys if the customer is still using the old keys on the Live system? TIA

We do these types of upgrades all the time.  Basically, if you had to do a complete reinstall of Standard for whatever reason, the Standard Keys would be invalid.  So as long as you don't do any maintenance on the Standard you'll be fine.

Thank you @Nancy Hanson and @Wayne Schulz. For some reason I thought the keys on the standard would automatically become invalid.

Interesting knowledge Jeff, we haven't ever tried upgrading to advanced in the same location and NOT done the workstations right away the next morning.  I will have to keep that knowledge in my ever aging mind.

What Jeff & Nancy said are accurate and has been our experience as well.
