  • 1.  SQL service question

    Posted 11-09-2022 10:56

SQL server service for v2019 is listed as (MSSQLSERVER) and the SQL server service for v2022 is listed as (SAGE22SQLSERVER). My question in the directions for upgrading on the same server it staties that this service needs to be switched from NT Service account to either local account or administrator account. When I get ready to stop the service for v2019 it gives me the following warning message. This client also has FAS and BizNet programs under that instance of SQL service and if I say yes and switch it to a local account will those other services stop running or error out? I didn't handle the original install of 2019 for this client and concern what might happen if I change it.

Don't change the SQL Service account through Windows Services.  Use the SQL Configuration tool (which handles the folder permissions too).
Restarting the service is needed to make the change effective, and any open connections to SQL will be terminated.

@Kevin Moyes  Can you tell me where I can find these directions or a link on how to do the process through SQL configuration? Thank you for the quick response!

It is a separate tool you should find in the start menu.  If not there, have IT install it.
Making the change here will do the extra SQL-specific stuff that Windows Services knows nothing about.
