  • 1.  SQL Server OEM for Sage 100

    The customer would like to upgrade to 2019.  They have S100 Premium and are currently using SQL Server 2012.  In conjunction with the Sage 100 upgrade they would like to upgrade SQL.  They bought SQL from Sage and pay a subscription to Sage for SQL licensing.  What is the most recent version of SQL Server available from Sage, and how do I download it?  I saw a link to v2014 on the Sage KB site but the link is bad.  is v2016 or 2017 available for download, and if so what is the download site?

    I would be interested in this as well, I was bounced around in the sales/support area's trying to get this exact answer about 3 weeks ago.

    I asked Linda Cade about this today. She said Sage still sells this but that sales ops may not know much about it. She suggested contacting her with any issues however that can be hit/miss at getting a reply.

    Thanks for asking Linda Cade @Wayne Schulz  Here's what I found out:

    1. Sage Support confirmed that that most current version of SQL Server available to Sage 100 end users is 2014.

    2. You need to request a copy of the download link for the Microsoft SQL server from the Sage Sales Adviser (This may take up to 48 hours and it may be sent directly to the customer)​.

    Also, @Jim Woodhead provided me with the attached document on the sun setting of the MS ISVR-SQL program.

    So am I to read this as we probably shouldn't be selling SQL from Sage anymore?  It was a great value prop when selling premium for smaller businesses.

    @Chris Mengerink  That is how I read it although the document is a bit confusing. I am wondering if the end user is still being charged by Sage for SQL that can never be upgraded past version 2014.   ​

    @Doug Higgs We have been selling it thru subscription as of this last month and they are gladly charging the client the subscription each year so I'm curious were this all leads.  "Thanks for paying the subscription for the last 3 years, you can only have SQL 2014 and our product doesn't support that anymore.... ​"

    Don't sell it if your customer runs in a shared server hosting service.  The Sage sold SQL is not licensed for that kind of environment.
