If you see anything about Avalara marketing to sales tax auditors, it was my idea.
We are currently being audited and when I told the auditor that we use Avalara, she was intrigued. I (of course!) gave her a product slick about it and explained how it worked. She said she thinks it would be a great benefit for many companies she deals with. She told me about one company where the guy threw up his hands when she told him that the jurisdictions are not by city but by zip codes (which I pointed out to her, isn't necessarily true!). I told her to tell him to give me a call.
She is going to share it with the other auditors and as the state doesn't gain anything by it, they can share it with those being audited. I gave her several of my business cards.
I shared this with my contacts at Avalara and they said their marketing department is interested in the concept. One also said, ""I should give you commission!"" Alas, I know THAT'S not gonna happen...
