Somebody asked me this, and it seems wrong. Any thoughts? We are running MAS 200 ver 4.40.0.10. I work in engineering as a Configuration Specialist putting BOMs together. I've been talking to our Operations personnel and have been told that we can't use indented BOMs, that they need to be flattened as we cant' drive MRP or forecast because MAS 200 doesn't drive thru sub assemblies for material requirements. Is that true? Example. A sub assembly won't report it's shorts when we don't have any of those sub's in stock.

Not 100% sure but I know there is a bug in one report where the above (printed solely from BOM) seems to be true. I think it might have had more to do with computing requirements.

MRP will drive through to sub levels so that statement doesn't make sense. I have on occasion seen it skip demand for a sub on a work order but pickup demand for other work orders with the same subs but it is very rare to see this occur.

I concur with @MoiraGoggin. The MRP tables contain all the make and buy recommendations for assemblies and sub-assemblies. We use those for enhanced reporting.
