So, wrapping up the W2's and 1099's for 2013... looking ahead. Has anyone successfully used Aatrix on pre-printed forms? Or do they have to be blank? And what about the Federal Copy? Does it have to be red, or is Aatrix a permitted exception to this?

They have to be blank. You can buy perforated 4 by sheets (or make the employees cut their own...). The Fed copy no longer has to be red.

The1099 federal copy does still require the red form.

Oops, that right - I wasn't even thinking about 1099's, although that's all I've been dealing with the last 2 days...

Everything I had worked with this year pointed to blank forms... but if you google Aatrix and pre-printed forms, I was able to find an entry that states they support pre-printed. I sure couldn't find how to make that happen in Sage. What is the plan then for the 1099 red form?

Only the IRS can answer that one. I am surprised after changed W-2 requirement, they did not also eliminate 1099 red form requirement.
