  • 1.  So why did Apple go with a new connector like 'lig

    So why did Apple go with a new connector like 'lightning'. I understand that the old one was way to large and bulky. But it looks about the same size as Micro-usb which can now carry 1080 HDMI as well. Every other product and device on the planet is now using Micro-usb, but once again, apple has to be 'different'. What benefit does it provide over micro-usb?

    I think there is a limitation of Micro USB and it cannot carry audio?

    But the new connector does away with analog audio

    That was just a wag on my part --- I think it's cheezy that they stick everyone with a $30 adapter fee. I think in some cases Apple is going to be tested as to the loyalty of their customers.

    If it didn't have a propietary connection it wouldn't be Apple.That's why I got an new Android phone rather than an ""i"" one.

    A proprietary dock connector is bogus. Agreed.
