So what's really gonna happen if the year-end IRD

So what's really gonna happen if the year-end IRD isn't installed? There really doesn't appear to be any major changes.

I asked the same question (in a different way) but am getting the same impression. A little more documentation from Sage so we can make intelligent decisions would be great!

I've had a couple of clients file W2's & 1099's with Aatrix without the IRD and all went through ok. I'm hoping as long as you don't need the new codes it works fine. On the Sage 2017 Year-End Update Release Notes it mentions updating Aatrix to 2.63 and Box 12 code FF and ACA 1095-c is now created when no paychecks in current year.

The only thing I could find is that new boxes will be available on the 1099 but it wasn't clear as to which ones. There was also a software update to the Federal and State eFiling. Payroll looks like Box 12 code FF is now available. I have had a couple of clients already run their forms without it with no issue. I'm still installing it where I can to avoid any potential future problems.

One problem which is probably only limited to people who won't be upgrading to 2018 for next year is the IRD has always needed to be installed consecutively. For some reason, the fixes aren't cumulative. So, skip 2017 install and if you don't get to 2018 then you may have to install IRD 2017 + IRD 2018.

The big beef that I have is how do you tell that the IRD has been installed? I guess it would be too logical to display it on the installed module listing or under help about... What am I missing except my memory?

Sage says to look in the System Activity Log for installation confirmation.

I have the same question. I have two clients that I couldn't upgrade b4 year end. The IRD will NOT install into SAGE 100 STD v2014.

It's not compatible with 2014, this is the list from the YE Release Notes: 2017 IRD is only compatible and applicable for the following Sage 100 versions: ? 2017 Update 1 (5.40.1) and above ? 2016 Update 3 (5.30.3) and above ? 2015 Update 5 (5.20.5) and above

@WayneSchulz, I'm pretty sure that's not the case anymore. Up until a couple/few years ago, you had to have the prior IRD's installed before installing the latest IRD. But now that doesn't appear to apply, as it's not mentioned in Sage's year-end doc. Only problem with looking in the Sys Act Log is that you have to wait an eon for it to appear on-screen, so most often I'll instead pull that file into Crystal/Excel. I agree @JeffSchwenk, that's too logical to have it show in the Installed Modules Listing.

WRT, installed module list, Sage sticks several patches onto the installed apps listing (specifically the one that shows on 2016.5). I can't think of a reason that they can't show the IRD version(s). I think it's just sloppy/lazy and lack of any type of guidance for that group.
