So, what a mistake. I decided to help an accountant friend out with a client that reinitialized the SO2 file on a 4.05 install they will be off in a few months. I have setup the import but every time I actually run, the job just disappears. When I go to the activity log it gives me an end of file error on the SO2. I can create a new Sales Order. The size of the file is 635 which matches other companies. I am trying to recreate from a ODBC connection to a copy of the install from the SO_04 SO History Detail linked to the data entry header (so it filters only to the current sales orders. Could use some insight from someone who remembers stuff from along time ago.

I'm not sure if this will help however when the re-initialization happens, it ask if you want to save original files and if they answered yes, it created the same file with the extension of .old before it wiped out the contents. If they have those types, it might be worth looking at. If you already knew this, please don't take offense. It will also prove a challenge if you are not sure about activity in between the re-initialization and now as well.

SEEMS to me like I've seen them disappear before but they are really chugging away in the background and will eventually finish. Even though you have a filter to only get the current sales orders, it has to read through all of the history files.

I knew Rebuild did this. I did not know reinitialize had that. I did check for copies of the file though (because I am overly optimistic) and there were none.

I have an error in the activity indicated Error #2 End-of-file on read or file full on write. Then ""Expanded File SO2CSW"". I get this each time I try to import reflected in the activity log.

As a workaround, you might try importing a different file type (like tab or pipe delimited). I know that would require an export from the SO history (using Crystal or VI), but it may be worth trying with a couple of records and see if you still get the error 2.

    And a new import job.

I am starting to think the issue is with the sales order header pointing to line indexes that are not there. I was starting to map the header and then import header and line but then I have to address credit cards. I think it is time to restore from yesterday morning and start over.

When you say the job disappears, do you mean you can't see it on screen, or the actual job definition is deleted?

Oh, I mean the screen for running the job disappears. I have to return to import job maintenance and unlock the job.
