The Sheraton in SD is on the smallish side??? Less than the five or six they had last year??

@ThereseLogeais I was wondering the same. One of the primary reasons we attended Summit in the past was for the networking with other channel members, but this makes that a challenge. Not that I want to fly to Atlanta when the other is in my back yard.

@JeffSchwenk And so it seems are attendance expectations.

We discussed this at the last BPAC meeting in Atlanta, but there was no final communication to us. I also doubt there was a survey of the channel about what was preferred.

Let me clear up any doubt you may have @JohnHoyt - No, there was no survey. :-)

Hmmm, Atlanta - When is Mother's Day this year?

Mmmmm, having the SD Summit just two weeks before MOTM ""MAY"" dampen Sage's enthusiasm for sending any ""movers and shakers"" to the Sheraton a fortnight later.

  • 14.  RE: So Sage Summit is back in 2019. In Atlanta, UK a

    Posted 11-07-2018 16:17
It is said imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Is anyone surprised that Sage having experienced the top channel partner event of the year, MOTM, wouldn't try and copy @JimWoodhead and choose the same hotel in SD? We have our meeting at the Sheraton Bay Tower; Sage will likely be at the Marina Tower, the first one every taxi went to from the airport, which has more space. It looks like Sage is timing these events around other ERP competition and events (Acumatica Summit, SAP Event, and TPAC in the Jan-Mar slot). Remember when 90 Minds was the only event in the Feb/Mar time slot? Again, we lead and others follow. We'll begin selling MOTM 2019 tickets this Friday, Nov. 9. A week earlier to allow more time for our members to take advantage of early bird discount pricing.

If anyone has to pick one...I mean, that's a no brainer. MOTM delivers more value.

Sounds like Sage Sessions (fluff) in Summit clothing. Acumatica Summit/Sage Summit West/MOTM all within a 30 day period. Nice. (not)

  • 17.  RE: So Sage Summit is back in 2019. In Atlanta, UK a

    Posted 11-09-2018 10:23
The interesting question is after every Sage partner gets through paying Sage back for miscalculated commissions - how many of those partners are going to dig into their pockets for airfare/hotel to go watch Sage say how important partners are at a Sage event. Sure, there will be some [ insert image of Lucy pulling football from Charlie Brown for 10th time ] but I bet there are more than a few who skim right past the Sage Summit registration.

  • 18.  RE: So Sage Summit is back in 2019. In Atlanta, UK a

    Posted 11-09-2018 10:29
True, after being burned on commissions by Sage, attending a Sage ""Sales Pitch"" Summit on one's slimmed down dime doesn't sound like a very wise investment.

  • 19.  RE: So Sage Summit is back in 2019. In Atlanta, UK a

I think 90Minds has just the solution!! :)

  • 20.  RE: So Sage Summit is back in 2019. In Atlanta, UK a

    Posted 11-09-2018 10:41
Not to mention that the Sage event is likely to only allow revenue (aka Endorsed) solution partners and/or national consulting partners. Sage hasn't announced anything yet but it's being anticipated that there will be limited numbers of exhibitors. And this is going to be a multi-day event = factor in time away + travel. For many partners I think this is going to be a nope.

  • 21.  RE: So Sage Summit is back in 2019. In Atlanta, UK a

    Posted 11-09-2018 13:36
There was some kind of attendance requirement for Solution Providers at one time, wasn't there?

  • 22.  RE: So Sage Summit is back in 2019. In Atlanta, UK a

    Posted 11-09-2018 13:58
Supposedly. Then that was supposedly denied. I guess if there's a requirement they'll talk about it on the 11/15 all hands call.

  • 23.  RE: So Sage Summit is back in 2019. In Atlanta, UK a

    Posted 11-10-2018 07:28
Why would Sage limit solution providers / exhibitors? I thought exhibitors were paying $15K-$20K for a 10'x10' booth at previous Sage Summits.

  • 24.  RE: So Sage Summit is back in 2019. In Atlanta, UK a

    Posted 11-10-2018 08:08
For Sessions Sage wanted it to be more of a revenue generating event and they felt that only using endorsed partners who shared revenue was the way to go. They have not formally announced what the plan will be for Summit so it may change up to when they announce. In reality what happens is the ISVs who can't exhibit just buy a (much cheaper) ticket and go network.

  • 25.  RE: So Sage Summit is back in 2019. In Atlanta, UK a

    Posted 11-10-2018 08:35
I hope Sage changes the format to include all the exhibitors that want to participate. There may be more revenue generated with 100 exhibitors than there is with 25, because there may be more partners and customers interested in attending the event. I attend for the networking, the social events, to view new products and features, training session s etc. I think a bigger event will draw more interest from partners and customers. No way I am traveling to Atlanta if the event is going to be similar to the Sage Sessions that was held in Chicago.

Now....let me toss a quarter.... either I move to California for a couple of weeks in February...or pay two airfares... oohh another one...skip Summit altogether.....

Or go to Atlanta in May. It might be a shorter flight....

I would definitely hold on San Diego pending review of the event. According to Sage both Summit events are the same.

  • 31.  RE: So Sage Summit is back in 2019. In Atlanta, UK a

@WayneSchulz what were this past year's partner days like for Sage Sessions? I heard it was sales oriented.

  • 32.  RE: So Sage Summit is back in 2019. In Atlanta, UK a

    Posted 11-12-2018 17:09
I didn't do any of the partner days. I think you are right about it being sales oriented. One session was with Ed Kless. I forget what the other was. Even back in the day when SK first reached our shores the best thing about the day was the free food at the end. Partners will come and salute and bow to Sage. I'm seeing so many customer conferences that I wonder how many customer will want to attend another event on essentially the same topic. Sage really should have a larger trade show as it may be the only really difference between Summit and the 10-12 conferences I've seen partners host.

  • 33.  RE: So Sage Summit is back in 2019. In Atlanta, UK a

    Posted 11-12-2018 17:47
Partner day was Ed Kless and another guy that spoke on business tips for running a cloud practice. (We were at the first one in Chicago where we had about 10 partners attend)

  • 34.  RE: So Sage Summit is back in 2019. In Atlanta, UK a

    Posted 11-12-2018 18:47
Ed was OK in Chicago. The consultant on a cloud based practice was in the dark about Sage actually being a cloud based system. He admitted so at lunch time. I suspect he changed his focus at later Summits.

I attended Sage Sessions and the Partner day in Atlanta. Sage Sessions was mostly a waste of time. The keynote was entertaining, and I was able to meet some of the Sage people I had only talked to over the phone. The partner day was good information, but it was Ed's Value Conversation/Fixed Pricing presentation that I have now seen for the 10th time and Allan Adler from Digital Bridge Partners delivering a similar presentation that Geoff Ashley is delivering about ""transforming your business into a cloud (i.e., subscription-based) business."" Shorten the sales cycle, package your IP, change the way you pay your sales people and consultants to create more content, etc. One of the highlights of the Partner day was a tour of Sage's Atlanta headquarters. If you want to know where all of your margin dollars are going, you should check out their employee breakroom/cafe with unlimited fountain drinks, candy, coffee, etc. Willy Wonka would be proud.

Apparently Sage was not ready for the rush of people who ""saved the dates"" and were ready to register on 11/20 for the San Diego Summit. Someone probably forgot this week is Thanksgiving. As usual, no one seems to be coordinating at Sage. #KeystoneKops
