So much for not having a plan b. I guess RIM should start sweating. One less likely acquirer for their failing technology. Maybe in 2013 we'll see a twofer of RIM and Nokia take a trip down obsolescence lane.

I actually like the Windows cell phone OS.

Unfortunately it looks like Windows 8 will try to turn our desktops into cell phones...

I don't think it's a big deal. A software bug that will be addressed via a downloadable fix. If this is the kiss of death, Sage and every other software developer would be out of business. If the stock tanks because of this news, I'm happy to roll the dice and buy a few thousand shares.

The kiss of death is that the ecosystem is not great. There are fewer apps. For many people they don't care but realize that they're also asking for a $30/mo data charge and once people realize that and that they don't have the same apps as on Windows - then the fun starts....

Agree there. It'll be a while before they dig themselves out from Symbian, but MSFT will throw lots of cash at this problem because they have much at stake. If developers wont create apps because the ecosystem is poor, they'll do it because MSFT subsidizes their effort.

If Microsoft were smart they would have looked at iOS and Android and planned to have a developed ecosystem well before they launched Windows Phone.
