So I send the IT people a SPM for v2017 advanced asking him to confirm that the new VM server OS he is installing is compliant with Sage. I am finally able to connect and what is installed? Windows SBS 2011 Std. Do I say sorry Charlie and have him put an OS that is listed on the SPM in or do I let him skate by and hope that there are no issues with his OS of choice? Is anyone running 2011 std? TIA.

I don't think you will have a choice to make, I thought the installer would not let you continue.

Well, that will make it easy. Downloading the install files now.

We've run clients on SBS 2011 with no real issues.

Well, I just dug up an email from two months ago where he verified that he was installing 2012R2. Maybe he connected me to the wrong server.

Not a fan of sbs. Too much crap running on the same server. It seems economical to the business owner because they get all of the ""free"" software. All of the services and apps running, will add to the cost by having to either beef up the processors and memory to compensate, or the inefficiency cost of Sage 100 running like a dog.

I say you verify with IT and your contact and attach the SPM for confirmation. I've run clients on SBS 2011 with not problems. I've run clients on SBS 2011 and them be so slow to be virtually inoperable.

I think it is SQL and Exchange that bring an SBS server to it's knees.

Well, there is good news to report. They gave me the incorrect IP address. There is a 2012R2 god after all!!!
