Is anyone else tired of troubleshooting slow systems? It seems like 2024 and especially Standard has resulted in a lot of troubleshooting for me. This one seems a little different, they have the typical 5-10 second delay when opening tasks but then they have a 15-20 second delay when they click any magnifying glass on the task that finally opened. So if they opened Customer Maintenance and then hit the lookup, it takes 15-20 seconds to even show them the customer list screen and then we see the normal 2-3 seconds to display the customers in the lookup.  Has anyone encountered this before? I'm familiar with the delay of the task opening but I can't remember ever seeing the lookups be slow once the task is open. Antivirus is Sentinel One and we disabled it and saw no improvement. Defender is off, UAC is off, no difference when running as administrator. And they are using Azure Virtual Desktop. They know it isn't supported, and if the slowness is typical of AVD then I will happily relay that! Any ideas?

I would first check to see if there's any difference when running Sage 100 directly at the server. This is to rule out server/client issues.

@Kate Krueger - Is there any commonality that you have found when troubleshooting slow system?  A certain AV, memory, etc.  Slow system troubleshooting is very painful especially when IT does not engage.

Try following this post from the forum. I think it is a great way to look at these things and I use it a lot.

    (7) How to use Process Monitor to verify Anti-Virus (including Windows Defender) is not monitoring Sage 100 or Paperless Office PDF files - Sage 100 Support and Insights - Sage 100 - Community Hub

I find most of my issues with issues like this has been with users of Sentinel One. It seems very aggressive. That being said I had one of our customers who had speed issues noted that on v2022 that the last PU made it go faster. Not sure why that would be, but they did comment that after the PU was installed that they saw a lot of speed issues go away.

Forgot to say that you should check both the server and the client.

An update on this issue - speaking softly to not incite network gremlins - I think this is fixed. We created a new shortcut using the mapped drive instead of UNC path (which they assured me they were already using but were not) and the system is blazing fast. Thanks again for all the help, I know these troubleshooting tools will be my best friends going forward!

You just can't get any good IT help these days!!!!!  We should bookmark this thread for the number ONE reason why you need to use a mapped drive when using Sage Standard.

If only you could bill the IT folks.

I am having issues with slowness in lookups in v2024 Advanced.  Just seems to have appeared.  The only "changes" are (at the server level) that we updated to PR 2.26, FAS server to 2026.0 and have installed Scanforce WMS for the first time.   Lookups ran at the server level appear normal (3-5 seconds), however when you attempt at a client (either PC or thin client) the lookups take 10-15 seconds.  I have disabled on the antiviruses completely (just to test), I have uninstalled the Wksetup from being UNC to mapped, and have taken the server memory from 16GB to 64GB and the added an additional processor. Sage is hosted on a VMserver, but can't believe that would have anything to do with it as it was running normally last year.  Have not wasted my time trying to involve Sage directly as they will pretty much just wash their hands of it.  Running out of ideas to attempt.
