This may or may not be on point, but I recently had a situation with virtual machines and dynamically allocated hard drives. The hard drive was set to be 200 GB but since it was dynamically allocated the space had not yet been officially set aside. When we filled the space that had already been allocated, the backup would slow to a crawl.
Changed it so that the full 200 GB was reserved up front and the problem went away.
Was a bit frustrating as we were trying to get a backup to install an enhancement from Scanco but couldn't get a good back up in a reasonable amount of time so had to postpone.

John, do a search here. As Beth said it was about a week ago when several people (myself included) reported having the same issue. Unfortunately, there is no resolution but various suggestions were offered. There was also a thread on Sage City

Interesting. It 'looks like' it hangs on BI. But like you, we unchecked BI and still SLOW. I think it shows Inventory on the next copy, but I'm not trusting the dialog box just yet as to where it's sticking.

We just had a report from someone re this and I checked the previous thread about this but no one has an answer. Client is seeing the same thing about BI being unchecked yet BI Is what appears to be hanging it up.
How odd that we're all hearing about this now - but on different versions. Some Windows update? (I love to blame them for everything.)
