Similar to Jeff's earlier question about kit items within Inventory. A customer is using Sage 100c v2016 BOM extensively to create kits that they have been selling as components. This has been working very well. Inventory items are setup as KIT types BOM are created as kit type BOM with same # as the inventory item When the SO enters in the item which is a kit it explodes the items to their SO which all works nicely. The items are electronic kits where the kit could have 6 items - two or more of the components being **serialized**. What they'd like to do is: - For the serialized items they sell they want to switch from pre-applying the label to the item to only adding a label during either picking or when the finished good is assembled (this is their requirement, not my recommendation) - Continue to have the ability to sell as kits - Create a new ability to stock the kits as a finished good (In reality this is just pre-packaging the components into a cardboard box and sealing it). I have a couple concerns : a. I think the only way I can accomplish the ability to either sell as a kit or as a finished good is a separate item for the finished good (in other works - one inventory item can't be setup in BOM and then as an inventory item as KIT and sold either as kit or from stock). b. With the finished good, because I have multiple serialized components in the box, I anticipate that they will use BOM production entry to create the new finished good and I will likely need the DSD enhancement to trace SN (though I plan to test how well I can trace without an enhancement before deciding) when someone calls to ask about an item. This company sells electronic items through distributors so the person calling is not always the one who initially purchased the item. Has anyone undertaken this before and have any words of wisdom? Do I need to create a new finished good for those items that they now want to ""box up"" and sell? (I think the answer is yes). Has anyone dealt with a company selling serialized inventory where they put the serial number label on just before the item ships or is boxed? Anything to watch for? TIA
