I have a client that uses Knowledgesync to run a crystal report daily for export.  It has worked flawlessly for a couple of years now.

Suddenly the crystal report stopped working.  We are unable to come up with anything that has changed recently in the system.

Opening the report in crystal we are finding that it is prompting for a password (but it is a silent connect).  We assume this is the issue when KS is trying to run it.

In KS if we try to access the database directly (not with a crystal report) we  get a good connection but also the KS has a spot to put in the password.

In the providex version of the odbc driver it is a simple issue to supply a user name and password, but the same things doesn't appear to be present in the odbc setup for the SQL  driver.

    Thoughts?

If you are using a DSN, be sure to use Windows authentication instead of SQL authentication.  (Windows does not store the SQL authentication password in a DSN).

    Edit:

Of course, that means the KS reporting task needs to run under the security context of a Windows login that has the required SQL read permissions...

Have you change Sage to 64 bit recently? I kept getting login prompts after switching to 64 bit of Sage once. (even after updating the Silent ODBC driver 64 drivers and remapping the KS Crystal Reports). It seems from KnwoledgeSync that 64 bit does not work with the Crystal Reports. We had to swap everything back to 32 bit.

I know you said you were on SQL ODBC but something to consider.

    Thank you

Just got some new information from the client.

Killed and restarted the KS service and the output file from the crystal report showed up immediately with all the data expected.  so it would appear that something in KS is keeping the report from finishing.  At this point it does not appear to be in crystal itself, but something in KS.

We are going to reboot the server this evening and see if that resolves the issue.

Nope.  No change to 64 bit.

Server reboot seems to have fixed the problem.
