Shipping List ALE is blank...

  • 1.  Shipping List ALE is blank...

    Posted 07-22-2021 14:50
    Has anyone seen a broken Shipping List lookup (flashlight list to show previously created entries in the batch)?  There is no customized ALE.  Customer has enhancements (PM, ScanForce...).  ShipperID has full permissions, and so does my Sage login.
    We can see the raw data is fine, and open the invoices through Invoice Entry, but the flashlight lookup in Shipping Data Entry is blank. (v2020 Premium).
    If I manually choose the same SO again (magnifying glass lookup) it will find the invoice (with previously entered quantities), so again the data is fine.  Just the Shipping List is blank.

    Any thoughts?

    Maybe bad data/record in the file(s) it's pulling from?

    Is it the same issue regardless of the Sage 100 user, Shipper ID, network user, computer, etc.?

    No bad data from what I can see (no blanks in key columns... invoice #, Batch... all good).
    The user complained and we see the same thing directly on the server using an admin login.

    Have you seen this KB article?  Maybe something applies to your issue.

    Ship-To Addresses for a customer are missing or Location Code List lookup is blank or empty in Sage 100 ERP

    Created on 02-23-2015 | Last modified on 07-02-2021

    Summary

    <content>

    Ship-To Addresses do not display; Location Code List lookup for a customer is blank or empty in Sage 100 ERP

    No ShipTo Address or Location Code displays in the Location Code List ALE lookup, when accessed from Customer Ship-To Address Maintenance in Accounts Receivable, Customer Maintenance, or when accessed from Ship To Addr lookup in Sales Order Entry or S/O Invoice Data Entry.

    </content>

    Disclaimer

    Backup Warning

    Use caution when working with the below product functionality. Always create a backup of your data before proceeding with advanced solutions. If necessary, seek the assistance of a qualified Sage business partner, network administrator, or Sage customer support analyst.

    Cause

    <content>
    • The specific Customer does not have any Ship-To Addresses
    • The AR_Customer.m4t file may have a blank or corrupted record, or the file may be corrupted
    • The SO_ShipToAddress.m4t file may have a blank or corrupted record, or the file may be corrupted
    • There may be a Custom lookup or Filter created by the user, that is blocking display of addresses or is corrupted
    • There may be a Custom lookup or Filter created for a specific user (or for all users) and for a specific company (or for all companies), that is blocking display of addresses or is corrupted
    • The Advanced Lookup Engine (ALE) query files may be corrupted
    • One or more Sales Order program files may be corrupted
    • The Sage 100 ERP (formerly Sage MAS 90 or 200) may be an earlier release of the retired/obsolete version 4.40
    </content>

    Resolution

    <content>
  • The specific Customer does not have any Ship-To Addresses:
    • Perhaps the Customer does not have any Ship-To Addresses. This can be tested by creating a new Ship-To Address to see if it shows up in the Location Code List lookup. If the new address does show up, then there likely was no other pre-existing address for that customer.
  • The AR_Customer.m4t file may have a blank or corrupted record, or the file may be corrupted:
    • Use the Data File Display and Maintenance utility to check for a record with a blank key. Delete any records where the key is truly blank or corrupted (i.e. lacking ARDivisionNo and/or CustomerNo field values)
    • Use the Rebuild Key Files utility to rebuild the AR_Customer file for the affected company code
  • The SO_ShipToAddress.m4t file may have a blank or corrupted record, or the file may be corrupted:
    • Use the Data File Display and Maintenance utility to check for a record with a blank key. Delete any records where the key is truly blank or corrupted (i.e. lacking valid ARDivisionNo, CustomerNo, and/or ShipToCode field values)
    • Use the Rebuild Key Files utility to rebuild the SO_ShipToAddress file for the affected company code
  • There may be a Custom lookup or Filter created by the user, that is blocking display of addresses or is corrupted:
    1. For Custom lookups: On the Location Code List task window, check for a drop-down View other than "STANDARD", such as one with an asterisk. If there is, try using "STANDARD" instead.
    2. For custom Filters: On the Location Code List task window, check if the Filters button is displayed in red. If red, that means there is a filter in effect. Click the Filters button and click Reset.
      • Note: If a Reset button is not available, the filter may be due to the Custom lookup. Delete the Custom lookup.
  • There may be a Custom lookup or Filter created for a specific user (or for all users) and for a specific company (or for all companies), that is blocking display of addresses or is corrupted:
    1. Open Library Master, Main menu, User Lookup Wizard
    2. For Lookup, select SO_ShipToAddress Customer Ship to Address List
    3. Delete any customized lookups that affect the user (or all users) and company code (or all company codes).
  • The Advanced Lookup Engine (ALE) query files may be corrupted:

    • Consider replacing the ALE query files. For more information, see the Related Resources section below.

  • One or more Sales Order program files may be corrupted:

    • Consider restoring or reinstalling program files for Sage 100. Before doing this, make sure to first make have all users update all data entry, have all users exit, stop any programs or services or applications that interact with or run Sage 100, and make a full backup of the "MAS90" directory.

      • Note: If a backup of program files and data was made before this problem began occurring, and the backup includes the current product update (and any third-party enhancements), and the most current Custom Office modifications (if any) then consider renaming the current "SO" directory (in the live "..\MAS90" directory on the server) and copying in the backup "SO" directory and its contents if the issue occurs in Sales Order. If that does not work, consider also renaming the "AR" directory (in the live "..\MAS90" directory on the server) and copying in the backup "AR" directory.

      • Note: If reinstalling program files, the reinstallation process will include reinstalling not just the programs, but also the product update (and likely any third-party enhancements) as well.

  • The Sage 100 ERP (formerly Sage MAS 90 or 200) install may be an earlier release of the retired/obsolete version 4.40 prior to Product Update 9 or 10:

    • If on Sage 100 ERP (formerly Sage MAS 90 or 200) version 4.40, Product Update 9 or 10, then this section should no longer apply.
    • If on a previous version, because Sage 100 ERP version 4.40 was officially retired on September 30, 2014, it may not be possible to obtain program fixes. Consider upgrading to a currently supported version of Sage 100 ERP.

    Note: If none of the above resolves the issue, consider testing in one of the demonstration companies that come with Sage 100 ERP, such as the ABC Distribution and Service Corp (ABC company code). If it does not occur there, the issue may be data-related, or specific to a company code. If the issue does occur there, the issue may be with programs or ALE query files affecting more than one company. It is also possible (and in a few cases, has been found to be true) that there is an issue with a third-party program enhancement.

    Thanks Brett.  I had not found that one yet, and the "how to replace ALE... files" might be my next step.

    Restoring the 5 ALE files and 2 data dictionary files (from when the user reported the lookup was fine) didn't help.  I emptied the invoice data entry tables and still nothing.

    Any other suggestions?  I'm running out of ideas quickly.

    "I emptied the invoice data entry tables and still nothing."

    What tables did you empty and how did you empty them?  SQL or ProvideX tables?  Did you look at SO_DailyShipment and and SO_DailyShipmentPackage ?  You may try renaming and then then manually re-creating SO_DailyShipment and SO_DailyShipmentPackage in reinitialize data files.

    I deleted the batches through Sage and scrubbed the SO_Invoice... tables of orphaned rows, but didn't originally touch those two tables (which have a lot of history). I purged both in the TST company just now (SQL) and the issue persists.

    Just for fun maybe try shutting down all enhancements and scripts and see if that changes anything

    Agree with Wayne. Look for a SO_Shipping_UI.pvc in \Links and temporarily rename it.

    I think I tried renaming that one, but might have only done the _BUS file. I'll try renaming both after hours tonight to see if that helps.
    Neither file has changed recently so I'd be really surprised if this was the cause.

    Same customer has problems with their Customer Maintenance panels too (missing Multi-Currency features, and the Aging grid is blank).  Oh joy.

    You might try renaming the SO\custom and or any other "custom" folders and see if the screen customization is the culprit.

    Reinstalling enhancements fixed the Customer Maintenance panel issues, but the Shipping ALE is still blank, so the other panel issues seem to be unrelated.
    • Renamed SO/Custom folder - no effect.
    • Renamed CM/Script folder - no effect.
    • Renamed entire Links folder - no effect on ALE results.

    At this point I think I'll have to create a Sage case.
