Shipping Integration with Fedex in Sage 100 I have a customer who wants to add. What is the current consensus (or discussion) on best simple product? @GeneralConsultantDiscussion

I ask the client: Are you looking for two-way integration? Do you need to rate shop? if they need either of these, then I am with Jeff; Starship is still a good solution. I have a clients on it with Sage100 v2015. If they just integration from Sage into FedEx or UPS we setup ODBC integration.

I agree with @JeffSchwenk on this if you need to rate shop. If the client is a FedEx shop and they will do all shipping in FedEx, then Shipping Integration is an easy to use addition. The ODBC connection that FedEx and UPS has will import the shipping address into WorldShip and Ship Manager but there is no means of getting the tracking numbers, freight charges, weight, etc back into MAS. That is the niche that Shipping Integration from DSD comes in. I have implemented it 10 or 12 times and it works great for what it does. The people who sell and support are much better too.

So far I hear Starship for the old functionality we all knew and liked, ODBC for getting data out of Sage and DSD for getting information back in. No one looking at SmartLink...

Saw Smartlink demo maybe two / three years ago. Demos very good. Way too pricy for migrating an existing Starship. As best I recall Smartlink wanted close to 20k though they dropped to about 5 during month/quarter end. Still did not buy. The one thing with Starship is that they have inertia. Lots of people using Starship integration to Sage 100. I like the ability to have the customer pay Starship to do the upgrade of their stuff during a Sage 100 upgrade since increasingly the problems seem to be in the doo-dads and bolt ons to Sage.

But does the customer need all of the Starship functionality? Or do they just need the tracking numbers + additional data (including UDF fields) back into MAS?

I really like this area of MAS and distribution in case you could not tell....

In most cases they don't use all the functionality. Same case with the bulk of Sage 100 features. My concern is that during the upgrade process (I just went through about 6 so it's a hot topic with me) you have to deal with integrations and increasingly the developers all want to point fingers to each other (Sage included) about whose takes ownership of any problems. The farther you get away from a solution that everyone and his mother's brother's cousin uses - the more likely that you will be doing most of the debugging yourself.

V-Technologies also has a StarShip lite product for just FedEx & UPS needs. You may want to look into that. ""ShipGear
