Server no longer connected

  • 1.  Server no longer connected

Client on 2016.5 Adv setup a new Citrix server farm.  Getting "Server no longer connected " sporadically.  PEP is turned off.  No other hints from Sage.

    Ideas?

Did you turn it off the normal way, logging in as admin, or this way?  Might be worth trying this way, too.
I don't log in as Administrator to get into DFDM, though.  That parts weird.

    1. Log into Sage 100 with Administrator account
    2. Open Library Master > Utilities > Data File Display > Maintenance
    3. Click OK to warning
    4. Type: SY_SYSTEM.m4t and hit Enter
    5. Select Edit
    6. Change the ENABLEPEPFORSYSTEM field to N
    7. Click OK and exit

What about the DEP settings.  Those used to cause a sporadic issue.

I don't remember how I turned it off because I did it soon after the originally upgraded, but the value is N now, either way.

Since this is a server farm, can you narrow the sporadic down to launching from just one of the servers?

2 out of the 3, for sure.  Cloned, so probably all.

If it were related to a port, or AV, or rights, it would behave more consistently, right?  I wonder if it's a network problem.

Had them uninstall and reinstall workstation and use the IP address instead of the name, still happening.  Had them turn off DEP, still happening.  Turning it over to Sage now - waiting to hear from their IT on what happens.

Are the network cards going to sleep after a timeout period?
Keep Alives disabled for the service?

I had the network guys check the timeout.  Will see about the Keep Alives.

This might be a long shot, because usually, we get WindX errors due to this issue. But might be related here...
On the Sage server, there are a bunch ephemeral ports that we open for Advanced and Premium.
At one point, we've done a network sniff to see what was causing this error, and we noticed that with every connection, Sage tries to connect to one of these high ports in addition to the actual application port. Having some or all of those blocked, could occasionally cause connection errors (in our experience WindX)

    netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="Sage 100 - Ephemeral Ports" protocol=TCP dir=in localport=30000-65535 action=allow

(If they are super security sensitive, they can open these ports to the Sage client server farm only)

Thanks, @George Khairallah - that was all "wah wah wah" to me, but I passed it along.

BTW, I want to tell you that I started working with a client this year who is using GoToMyERP and I have NOTHING but good stuff to say about the support I've gotten.  I've gotten used to retraining IT guys on Sage every time there is an issue, but your staff KNOWS Sage 100.  I really appreciate it.

It is so NICE to have IT understand our needs.  Just last week, I asked client IT support to open the ports for Advanced.  He said no, they were already open.  I finally just did it myself.  As a rule, I generally don't do windows.....

I had been having this problem recently on my system and seem to have resolved it by going to user maintenance | preferences and making sure that automatic logoff is turned off.

I seem to recall at sometime that Sage had actually disabled this but possibly it works again?
