Securing one customer and one item The user has one customer that buys only one item and it must be secured from viewing in reports, look-ups, maintenance, inquiries, basically everywhere. Only accounting and management can see this data. Used advanced lookup list with groups to prevent access via most screens, but how to handle the reports? Modifying all the reports that could have this customer & item combination would work but hoping there is a better, faster way. tia. (Sage 100 adv 4.5)

What's the frequency of this customer's activity? Could you set up a separate company and do intercompany transfers, etc.? Not ideal but this seems an odd request.

I like the idea, thanks @ThereseLogeais, but this is a large customer with lots of activity, and accounting and management need to see AR, IM, GL, as a whole including this customer and item.

Wow, then you have a lot of customizing to do. Even with advanced lookup, you can scroll - unless you disable the scroll buttons. Not sure how many reports are included in this (basically all AR reports and the IM customer analysis). Then there's ODBC security to consider. Do users use Crystal? If they need access to AR data, there isn't a way that I know of to exclude this customer or their activity (think invoice history).

All good points, they use Crystal from the stand point of accessing standard reports but don't write their own reports. I forgot, the ODBC issues, thanks for the reminder. It's a roll-up-the-sleeves job for me...or they could hire trustworthy employees.

Does DSD have a security by division enhancement?

If they don't, I know ISM does. If client uses AP Divisions, this would be an option that I think would cover all of the details you mentioned.

An option for the I/M-related reports (i.e. I/M reports menu) is created a UDF in CI_ITEM like DO_NO_PRINT_ON_REPORTS?. Once this is done all the reports will have it as a grid selection (the default is ALL). You can then create a new Report Setting for each one so you can change this selection to, for example, Not Equal to ""Y"". Once the report setting is saved with this criteria, it will be retained every time someone goes into it. The STANDARD ones don't save settings. Just a thought.

@DianaLaughner did you mean AR divisions? @MarcosDeLuna interesting idea, I'll try that.
