    A customer asked me yesterday when Scanco was going to be implemented.  I asked if she meant the production management module they recently purchased.  She said, "No, I mean Scanco.".  I said that Scanco has a lot of products, and I don't remember you have anything other than production management.  Well, I sent an email to Scanco and they also have Multi-Bin Standard, License Plating, On-The-Water, and Scanco Warehouse, in addition to a few handheld computers.  That's interesting because I was never in a demo nor did I receive a commission! What????

    Update: Sent several emails and left some voice mails.  Late Friday afternoon I received a conference call from three Scanco employees.  Scanco will be sending me a commission check for the sale that occurred in January 2018.  The explanation(s) ring hollow to me because there is no valid reason to have excluded me from discovery, demos, etc.  The customer contacted them directly, inquiring about the products.  This customer does a lot of work in house to "save money".  The Scanco modules they paid for still are not implemented, so now they are asking me to get involved.   Why would Scanco want me involved at the beginning of the sales cycle if there was a possibility I could educate the end user about alternative solutions? Just go around me, close the sale, and deal with the complaints later. What's the worse thing that can happen?  They have to pay a commission they would have had to pay anyway?

    Make sure they cut the commission check for the 2019 and 2020 annual maintenance renewals that you missed out on as well.  Be sure you take all of this in account when you value price the project implementation.  They should be willing to pay a premium for your services now!!!!  There is a LOT to do two years later

    Update.  After calling one of the Scanco partners, I received the commission check.  During the conversation, the partner mentioned that they know that I made a post about this incident on 90 Minds, and asked if I would post on 90 Minds that they made it right.   How would they know I made a post on this site?

    @Doug Higgs and everyone else.

    I reached out to Cody at Scanco to discuss the situation with them selling direct to customers and that cutting partners out, especially 90 Minds members, of the process wasn't a good general practice and wasn't doing anyone any favors. ​He is the new VP of Sales as of the beginning of the year. I was speaking in general terms and about several situations I've read about here on 90 Minds with no details.

    Cody said, "This must be about this Doug Higgs situation that just hid my desk 15 minutes ago". I said I wasn't calling about any specific situation but really wanted to get it out in the air that they were not doing themselves any favors. We are always trying to advocate for our members with all of the ISVs and not just affiliates. Anyway, Doug, I'm glad it all worked out.

    Scanco, as affiliates, do have access to the 90 Minds Community and Cody does have a login so hopefully, they will pipe up at some point and let us know what their plans are going forward.

    Customers going on the web and doing their own research is very common now.
    Expecting that their Sage partner will pick up the pieces when/if implementation goes south is also common.

    The tricky part is if you have the customer on an access agreement they may have just increased your support complexity due to you now having to check with two companies on bugs without any change to what they pay you.
