I have a client who needs clarification with scheduling reports per below. Any insight offered would be greatly appreciated.

    • Is there another tool or process other than Vineyardsoft's KnowledgeSync that would give us the ability to schedule running Sage reports and either emailing them or dropping them into a specified directory?
      • I am aware of the Sage scheduling tool but it is limited to output to real (physical) printers only. We require electronic output files.
    • If KnowledgeSync is it, have they finally reached a resolution with Sage to schedule out-of-the-box Sage reports (or versions in a given reports' "settings" list), not just the ones which do not use "work" tables?
    • I had heard that Sage will be making their work tables query-enabled (so we can use them in custom reports and external queries). Any idea when this is coming and what it actually entails?

    Thank you,

Not sure which version you are using or when Sage added this, but Sage100 2021.2 allows for the emailing of out-of-the-box reports, as well as allow for selecting a specific report settings. Just select Reports on the Schedule tab and Paperless Office on the Task tab.

VisualCUT is the other common software used.

In both cases with VC and SA, both can't run standard Sage 100 reports that use a worktable.  If you have the Workflow/Actions module for SA, you could schedule a script to use BOI to run, generate, and export the report.  Alternatively, you can just use a VBScript scheduled with Windows Task Scheduler to handle reports that use a work table.

Sage 100's task scheduler feature to email a report is limited to a report setting with any options and selection criteria saved to the report setting.  You could always you criteria within the crystal report to filter if the selection criteria is too complicated or dynamic to save to the report setting.  Using the BOI approach gives you full control over the report options and selection criteria prior to generating the report.

We use Visual Cut as our primary report scheduling tool.  Yes, you have to develop a copy of reports that use work tables, and handle things like output duplication, but it's low cost, powerful feature set, and reliability are an easy sell.
I gave a webinar that should be posted on 90-Minds with an overview of how it works.

DataSelf doesn't schedule Crystal report distribution. On the other hand, it makes it easy for users to securely access their reports anytime and anywhere, either via scheduled Excel/CSV/PDF report distribution, self-service access via web browsers and mobile device apps, embedding them in other web-based applications, and using Natural Language Query (NLQ) to build ad-hoc reports using plain english. Security is centrally managed and system admin grants rights such as if users can self-subscribe to reports or what data sets they have access to. Free trial available and pricing starts at $399/month and includes twenty Tableau users.

We often used BPA-Task Centre as a replacement for knowledgesync.  It is a business automation platform and used for data transformation, integration and reporting.  Nicole Laurier and Paul Cannon used to come to 90 Minds a while ago, and are still the North American distributors for the product.  We used it mostly with SAP, but it works well with 300 or 100 Premium as well.  It could be used with old fashioned 100, but we often used triggers for initiating the automations and in 100 you would likely need schedules for everything.

We also use BPA for Sage 300 and Acumatica clients.
