SAP Business One - HTML Client I just got off a conference call with some SAP people discussing the SAP Business One Cloud offering and our session at the Business One Innovation Summit in Miami first week in June. Our part is to talk about how we use the technology they developed for multitenant and they are updating the group on what is coming next. We are in their evaluation program for next gen technology and just got a sneak peak into what we will be testing for them in June and how it will work. Basically if you remember how BlyMobile interpreted the Providex and rendered it in HTML for anything in the new framework, SAP has done the same for Business One in HTML5. Anything developed by SAP or third parties using the standard SDK tools and methods will render in a browser in the next release. Being a 90 Minds skeptic, I asked a number of questions and agreed with their assertion that users that perfrom routine tasks will be just fine in the browser application and that power users who run big extractions to pivot tables and spreadsheets will still need a rich client. The other plus is that all the analytics, dashboards and ""extreme applications"" written for the HANA database are already HTML5 and will be available in the first release as well. The moral of the story is that SAP B1 has innovation and technology that could be available for Sage 100 (as proven by Blytheco) should be available to the channel and its customers. SAP went a step further than Blytheco in making the whole architecture multu-tenant and secure.

How do both of these differ from publishing the app for access from the browser?

Publishing the application for access is a terminal services function (remote desktop), while HTML5 the web server will render all the screens as a web page. Much lower licensing costs and no plug ins or local requirements other than a HTML5 compatible browser

Although quite beneficial for in certain circumstances, the BlyMobile app has a few limitations.... 1. Remote users are unable to print to the location of the host. So a remote user can't print a picking ticket to the warehouse if the warehouse printer is connected to the host. 2. AP and PR check printing is disabled. 3. Remote users can only print to a PDF file, not a physical printer, Excel, or other any other file format. 4. Sage 100 paperless office is disabled. 5. Third party source code modifications are ignored.
