  • 1.  Sales Tax Calculating when it shouldn't

    Posted 04-03-2019 13:17
We now have two separate clients both running Sage 2015  (5.20.5) and both just recently, with the last two months according to them, started having sales tax being calculated on invoices where the customer and the ship to are set up as non taxable and they don't see tax on the sales order but do on the invoice. Neither company uses Avalara and both stress that they aren't doing anything new.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

Check the setup of NONTAX in Sales Tax Schedule Maintenance.  Had this happen - someone added another tax code to the NONTAX tax schedule for some strange reason.

Beth - I will check that.  I've asked for two or more examples.  I did forget that one company uses JobOps.

And, If they are adding freight to the invoice, the Tax Schedule they are using may be set to tax freight only...

No freight added on these invoices according to both clients.

Clicking into Tax Detail for the invoice history should make things easier to understand...
