Sales Order lines column labels

  • 1.  Sales Order lines column labels

    HI All, pretty sure I know the answer but does anyone know a way to relabel a standard column header on the lines in Sales Order entry?  Client wants Promise Date to read ETA Date.

    Easy in 2020.  You probably have to Reset Panels (and grids) for it to load for users.

    Hi Folks,  I got an assist from a colleague.   What I needed to do was to change the label in a grid from Promise Date to ETA Date.  He pointed out that it can be edited in SY_GridDifinition

    Yes, that is what Customizer does with grid changes.  For the user copies of the grid data, resetting panels / grids reloads from the base grid template (which has been modified by Customizer).

    Edit: of course, prior to v2020 editing this kind of thing has to be done by DFDM, directly in the table.

    Hi Kevin,

    You will find that you cannot change column labels in a grid with customizer.  In can only be done for UDFs, not standard sage fields. Hence my posting...   But was able to do it with DFDM in SY_GridDefiniton so issue resolved.

    Strange that the field can be edited in customizer but the edit does not hold after saving.  Seems someone forgot to follow this through to the completed end!  IMHO, a tad sloppy!

    Prior to v2020 that was true... you couldn't edit stock fields, but with v2020 comes some significant improvements to customizer, including this ability.

    HI Kevin,

      Yes, the client is on 2019 premium.   Getting ready to (gulp) install Production Management so not looking to move to 2020 for a while.   PM has issues in the Premium version and want them worked out and stable before considering moving up..

    Really?  We have a customer just converted from WO to PM on 2019 Standard and they are eager to move up to Premium / SQL soon.  Are the Premium + PM issues documented somewhere?

    HI Kevin,

      I really doubt it.  I have been working directly with Tanya on the issue and they have one programmer head down on it.  She said they found some additional issues beyond what I saw.   She said they were specific to Premium..  Joy..   Hopefully will have a fix next week.   Having worked with JobOps for years, I have to say it really seems they rushed PM out..    I really like the concept.  But when it doesn't work the concept is moot..

    If not on 2020 but on 2015+, a UI post load event script can be used to modify column labels, much easier to do the primary grid then the secondary grid iirc but it has been a while since i messed with it.
