Sales Order error message

  • 1.  Sales Order error message

Client is on Sage 100 Premium with SP1 and Production Management with Update 1

They have several test companies.   Only one company does not have the issue.  below.

When accessing Sales Order entry this message comes up (see attachment with "sales order is referencing another task message".

No users are in the system. There are no stranded Pvxwin32 processes.  Sage and SQL are on the same server and the issue will occur after a reboot when for sure there are no locks or users.  It is a SQL install so there cannot be file locks on the tables.    The issue "follows" the company if it is copied (see second attachment).

We have tried renaming the Links folder, recreating the session files and turning off error trapping all with no change.   We tried adding a UDF and get this message when accessing SaleOrderDetail:

Neither Sage or Scanco has been able to find why this is happening.

Any services running that might be tying it up? Automatic VI Imports, Web integration, Scanco ConnectIt? I ran into this once with a "home Grown" SQL mirroring program a previous IT guy had written and no one even knew about it!

Have you checked the permissions on the SQL tables?

Have you checked the SQL Activity monitor to verify there are no blocked processes?

If that is the case you will see something like my example below.  We have ran into this a few times in the past with 3rd party applications.

    Hi everyone

Thanks for the help thus far.

There has been no change from the advice given, as it does not appear to be a "normal" issue.  Alnoor is going to help set up a SQL trace to see what is locking the file.

I will be interested in learning what is locking this for your client.  We have a client with a similar type of an issue and they have "Scanco products"; we can not find the locked file anywhere.  Scanco says "it's not us".  @Venessa Griffin

Apparently the problem was in the dictionary. The entry for SO_SalesOrderDetail table did not have the SQL Create Table Flag enabled. @Michelle Forsey and I have both run into this before.

This means anytime it tried to open SO_SalesOrderDetail, it was looking for the ProvideX M4T file instead of the SQL table, even though the SQL table did exist. The one company where the errors weren't occurring, actually and erroneously had a SO_SalesOrderDetail.m4t in the \Mas90\MAS_xxx\SOxxx\ folder. Fortunately for all companies this was a test environment. Well mostly. I flipped the flag and now the road to recovery (not to be confused with the Road to Hana) is being traveled.

Well done!! @Alnoor Cassim I am seriously debating creating a Ksync event to monitor those fields. They flip when no one is looking. Sneaky little buggers.

Since it's resolved, I'll close this thread out to the Sage 100 group. #Urgent
