Customer is using Sage100 Payroll along with the HR functions of HRMS. They are asking if it would be beneficial for them to switch to HRMS Payroll. I have never seen or used anything HRMS. Any obvious Pro's and Con's? TIA

What are their issues currently?  Any compelling reasons to switch or are they just curious?

If they are looking for improved technical support, not sure if that is possible.  Two weeks ago a client had to restore their ENTIRE MAS90 folder because HRMS tech support wiped out half of the tables.  Go figure.

The Sage PR / HRMS link sucks big time.  Like many things Sage, I don't think they ever improved it after the v1.0 interface was released.

Since HRMS and HRMS PR are supposed to work together, theoretically, life would be simpler.  But that is a big question.

Perhaps the CS3 Technology folks (Shawn/Michele) can give you a better perspective since they support HRMS.

I thought the integration between Sage 100 Payroll 2.0 was supposed to have been improved. If not, I would imagine it could be fixed at some point, so I don't see that as a major issue. The question is whether the integration issue is due to HRMS or Sage 100.

The investment is more of an issue to me. You didn't state how many employees there are, but using 500 as a comparison, the initial investment for HRMS Payroll is $13,050 and annual maintenance is $3,255. (HRMS does not yet offer subscription, but it was rumored that may be some time this year.) For Sage 100 Payroll, the annual cost for unlimited (over 500) is $4,000 - slightly more per year. Anything over 500 employees will cost more for HRMS, since the Sage 100 unlimited is capped at $4,000. Add to the initial HRMS investment the data conversion and training, and that becomes a substantial amount.

Since financially going to HRMS may not make sense, the only reason I can think of to convert is if there are features required that only HRMS offers.

Hi Kenny,  As I'm not that familiar with HRMS, I asked Brandi Clymer, VP in our office. Her response:

I believe it is always beneficial to have HR & PR in the same system to talk directly with each other (or have a better interface in the case of HRMS). Sage 100 PR has some items it does better and HRMS has things it does better. Attached is a list of some of the differences between the 2 payroll products that is old, but I still refer to.

The Sage 100 PR to Sage HRMS HR interface has always been problematic and they have never invested in it to fix the issues, nor do I have any expectations they will.

I do think moving to HRMS PR might be beneficial for the client. We have moved a few from Sage 100 and had some people be happy and others not like it as well. I think you would want to look at the key issues they are having with the interface first and see if they can be resolved. If not then look at what they like best about Sage 100 PR and what they would like to improve and see how Sage HRMS PR does on those items.
