Sage made a big change yesterday in announcing that they are going back to channel-only sales for Sage X3. Until the announcement yesterday, Sage was employing about a dozen direct sales reps for X3 and Sage was handing the larger company deal opportunities to them. Sage said that several of the direct sales reps have been let go, but that the rest will be deployed as Sage X3 sales specialists, basically serving as strategic account sales support to the channel, and flexible to work on deals in almost any capacity.

Meanwhile, the Sage X3 PSG consulting group will wind down as Sage will no longer directly implement Sage X3. Several of the PSG team members will be retained to form what Sage described as a "center of excellence" for X3 in North America, mirroring the model they use in Europe.

We had noticed recently that Sage was seemingly far more generous with resource availability in helping us pursue X3 pipeline opportunities. If that's an indication of how things will be going forward then I welcome the move.

The webinar recording is in partner hub. I wonder if part of the move is because Sage doesn’t want to be in the consulting/professional services business ?

Staffing and scheduling consulting teams at this level is not cheap and it’s not one of Sage’s core skills.

I saw the opening of the webinar and they had the person who oversees the direct team on the call and once they announced this I wondered whether that meant he would be gone.
