Sage will demonstrate their new customizable launcher and modern UI for Sage 100 on June 11, 2015 in a customer/partner demo. If you did not get the invitation - use this link on June 11, 2015 at 12pm ET to join. https://sagena.webex.com/sagena/j.php?J=642185371 From what I recall this is a more QuickBooks like graphical interface with customization capabilities. The underlying Sage 100 ERP program screens remain the same. Sage showed this privately at MOTM 2015 but declined to provide screen captures.

Saw this last Friday - launcher is much more modern looking, but then you get into a screen and not so much. There was some pushback on being able to change the font size (which is not included in this go around, at least not so far).

I second @BethBowers comments - they really need to deal with the font scaling especially with higher resolution monitors. I wasn't too impressed with the 'flat' buttons, it reminded me of when they announced the 'new' look of 'rounded' buttons.

This isn't what Sage was showing back at MOTM. They had a much more graphical design as I recall - more like the QuickBooks navigation. I like that Sage keeps plugging away with ""Launch Sage Fixed Assets"" and ""Launch Sage CRM"" buttons on top of the screen.

I did like the fact that you could tell which was the active tab more easily, though.

Seeing enough names to feel like today's presentation is for MOTM's. LOL!

New launcher is optional, so we have doubled our UI testing efforts. New Themes for launcher, because these are the most important technology enhancement we could think of. This will sell tons of copies! Do they need our approval for changing icons?

Actually, I liked the opening statement, we want to hear what you think????

It does look good I like the menu based upon security. Can't get rid of their ugly self promoting HTML within launcher

Like the view options... Why not just give full control?

    Because it is still breaking

I see this as a big pain in the ass to upgrade. Who here as touched a site under 10 users recently? Most of these sites want some level of standardization or ability to make mass change if they are to adopt these types of customizations.

We have to say kudo's for their openness!

@WayneSchulz I specifically asked that question. Still waiting for their answer.

We have recently lost a sale because the prospect stated that the UI looked old. I thought that was being picky, and they should consider the underlying functionality. Must be millennials. This should help.

Looks like a refresh of the existing UI. Why keep the old one as the change is not that massive?

but it's NOT Sage green - it's ugly lighter green

My concern is that this will be the ONLY meat in the v2016 release considering Sage's limited resources.... So many other meatier issues. But then the Fluff will move more licenses....

Actually, I don't like Sage Green. (Must be my IBM experiences.)

I think this looks good. If there is no additional upgrade or support burden this will be a welcome change. Nobody asked if PEP was getting kicked to the curb.

    Posted 06-11-2015 10:09
I had a response from Deborah yesterday regarding my inquiry and concern about PEP - this was her response: ""Your timing is perfect for asking about PEP. I am working with R&D to put together a document that explains what it is, how it works, and what we collect. I will send over the information as soon as we have it compiled. My goal is to schedule a webinar on it if not before Summit than shortly thereafter. I'm also happy to setup a time to talk about this with the 90 minds group specifically, if you'd like. I am happy to say that since the team re-wrote the dll wrapper earlier this year there have been no issues reported on PEP - for customers who applied the fix. The only issues we are still seeing are with those customers who have not applied the fix.

I like it. I like that modules/tasks that the user doesn't have access to won't show up on their launchers. I've had folks ask for that.

  • 28.  RE: Sage will demonstrate their new customizable launc

    Posted 06-11-2015 10:29
I'm somewhat concerned about support burden, upgrade ease. Overall I think this will be a welcome modernization. I sure hope I'm not fielding 20 questions from 20 users during upgrade about why their theme changed and can I help to add it back to the way it was.

I have visions of v4.1 dancing in my head.............. And back then, they had more bodies... Let's face it, they aren't doing this for the existing base, they are doing it to sell more new licenses. This roll is going to hit the MD's initially so there ability to roll out product to the existing base is going to slow done again. Yes, it does look pretty, yes it is a step forward. Does Sage have the resources to manage this in a controlled fashion with minimal loss of forward motion...

Don't ever mention v4.1 ever again. WORST. UPGRADE. EVER.

  • 31.  RE: Sage will demonstrate their new customizable launc

    Posted 06-11-2015 11:02
And forward motion @JeffSchwenk ??? The ""non-framework"" modules work in the new UI, isn't that great? What about bringing them up to standard or replacing them!!!

  • 32.  RE: Sage will demonstrate their new customizable launc

    Posted 06-11-2015 11:11
@GaryFeldman Wouldn't it be great to hear at Summit that Sage has been secretly working on those legacy modules and they will be compatible in 2016? Hahahahaha!!!
