  • 1.  Sage v2013 Standard - customers computer froze in

    Sage v2013 Standard - customers computer froze in the middle of an update and now no tasks will open. Tried rebooting server and workstations, renaming SY_Console and SY_workstation with no luck. Can't rebuild/sort because the tasks won't open. tried FSMGMT.msc on the server and no luck. I can pull a query just fine, so it doesn't seem to be a connection issue. Any ideas?

    Is it just this workstation where tasks won't open or is it all workstations?

    All workstations and the server. I finally got sage on the line, so hopefully they can help. But even they are escalating it.

    The last time I had something similar it was due to the CryptoWall virus (yikes) you might check the home directory for any new files that shouldn't be there...

    Oh my! Sage was not able to figure it out so customer is going to shut down all the servers for a few minutes then reboot... Sage is on a virtual server and restarting that did nothing, but Sage feels it is related to the main server. So we will see, but that is something to check for. We are reconnecting in about 20 minutes. I will post back the solution here once it is resolved.

    Believe it or not this was related to the Sage PEP. We disabled it as an admin and everything is working now.

    There must be something in the air. I just disabled PEP on a client this afternoon who is on 2013 and had issues.

    Stephen at Sage said he had multiple calls related to it this week. I wonder if there was a windows update that threw it off.

    PEP is one that I automatically shut off for the client. It's history has been too flaky (as you have just experienced) to warrant leaving it on. Of course, my clients will call me instead of trying the on line chat support. FWIW, I install v2014 last night and many users were complaining today about sluggishness. We rebooted all the servers and things sped up again. Of course, last night was a big MSFT patch release.
