I have a client using Sage HRMS along with Sage 100 v2017 ADV.  They have been having major issues with the HRMS link to Sage 100.  Sage HRMS tech support have been on numerous times looking around/messing with the server settings.  Don't ask me why.  Today, they are back at it.  Something happened today at 1:07 PM.  Client's PRxxx folder is missing, GLxxx folder only has five tables and many other company (backups) folders are affected with missing tables.

The coincidence is too startling to suspect something other than the tech doing something.  Could a virus been launched??  Very bizarre.  Have never seen anything like this in 20 years.  Server is running OS 2016.

    Thoughts.

    TIA

Oh, I bet they accidentally moved the PR folder inside some other folder...  And let's discuss the awesome HRMS integration, hm?  NOT.

And nearly all of the GLxxx tables and 13 other company folders wiped out????  If there ever was a WTF moment, this is it!!!!

I've seen users move Sage data folders before.  Could be super aggressive AV too.

Drag and drop Move, instead of Copy... with the only files left behind being ones locked by an open process?

I have found Sage HRMS support to be very poor and especially when it comes to the HRMS/Sage 100 payroll link.  They have no understanding of Sage 100 payroll and I don't let them do anything unless they are dialed in with me on the client's server and explain what they are trying to do since I have no confidence in them.  I sure hope that it was that that they moved them into another folder and didn't delete the files!

I wasn't involved..........  Hindsight is 20/20!  Client IT is on the case now.  Date/time stamps are very interesting.

From the Sage HRMS person.  For the life of me, I don't understand how he could be so bold and do this without any explanation.

The steps performed during today's trouble-shooting are detailed below. Is the Sage 100 Application server a virtual machine? If so, are there snap-shots created for this machine daily?

Sage 100 Application Server Windows folder Changes

Created a New Shared folder with appropriate permissions for Sage 100 users upon the Sage 100 folder containing the 'MAS90' folder
Folder owner permissions updated from 'MAS90' security group to 'Administrator'
Permissions were pushed down from the new share to all 'Child' objects

(Changes to Molies machine) Sage 100 Workstation Machine Changes:
Updated the Sage 100 Workstation registry entries to point to the new shared 'Sage 100' MAS90 folder location

Steps performed on a different Sage 100 Workstation
    Uninstalled the Sage 100 Workstation
Reinstalled the Sage 100 Workstation using the Sage 100 MAS90 Shared folder location

Client had to do a complete restore from last night's backup.  Data seems to be there.  Just a wasted day.  Now have to help client write the letter to Sage HRMS.  Just unbelievable what they did.

Working with third parties & publishers is becoming the bane of my existence. The third parties just shrug and continue cashing the checks. We can be stuck as the sometimes unpaid complaint department. To the customer, once we touch their computer including in any fashion we have taken ownership of their problem - whether they paid us a dime or not.

Some of the bigger third partie's service has become unacceptably slow and/or bad.  Weeks to fix obvious bugs.  A week or more to return an email or phone call about an urgent issue.Twenty week lead times on mods then the mods are late and full of bugs.  The customer has asked me to speak with Sage on their behalf yet: 1. I don;t know who to speak with at Sage that sincerely cares, and 2.  If anyone at Sage has the stones to confront one of the bigger third party developers.   Sage should implement some guidelines for conduct that are policed and third parties should be severely penalized for not adhering to the guidelines.  We would all benefit!

:-O  It's bad enough when an unsuspecting IT guy up and moves Sage 100, but a Sage HRMS person?  Come on, now!

When client emailed me about Sage HRMS being her system, she asked me what could go wrong, I sent her a list of 8 items (mainly in jest) of the horrors.  Imagine how I felt when it happened.  When I asked for detail, she replied that he was only dinking with HER workstation, NOT the server.  And this was SAGE!   We could go on and on about third parties, but Sage??  On the good news front, I am impressed with clients's IT and their backup.  They restored the entire MAS90 folder as of 11:06 yesterday morning.

Hey CS3 Technology team, who is a higher up at HRMS to start the discussion with?  Call me if you want to talk privately.
