Sage Summit - Things to Do While in Atlanta
Sage Summit has changed over the years and so has Atlanta in the 25 years I have been here. Things Atlanta is really good at include:
1. Restaurants - The dining scene has really improved over the years in Atlanta and there are tons of cool walkable areas. Ponce City Market, West Midtown (Howell Mill Road and 14th St), and Atlantic Station are all short Ubers away. There are many towns which have vibrant walkable downtown scenes like Decatur and Roswell in the burbs to name a few. And of course don't forget PittyPat's Porch for the 90 Minds party. Accross the street is the Westin Peachtree Plaza which has a rotating restaurant at the top for amazing views on a clear day or night.
2. Downtown Attractions - Although Atlanta downtown is not the same as many major cities for attracting nightlife, the attractions such as the Aquarium, College Football Hall of Fame, CNN Center and The World of Coke are all in a walking distance and are really excellent.
3. History - Whether you are a Confederate or a Civil Rights activist Atlanta has something for you. I personally like hiking Kennesaw Mountain in the suburbs where there are many civil war era cannons still on th hillside with beautiful views of the city. Downtoen there is the National Center for Civil and Human rights (although I have never been there. The MLK center is a short distance away as is the Cyclorama, Gone With the Wind Museum is further away in the quaint Marietta Square and there are tons of other attractions for history buffs.
4. Outdoors - The weather is wonderful most of the time in Atlanta and many Atlantan's love the outdoors. If you want to mix history with hiking, then Stone Mountain Park is the place to go. The Chatahoochee flows through Atlanta and there are tons of parks along the river with hiking, tubing, kayaking and more.
